The corporation claimed in 2015 that over 40 percent of its energy came from renewable sources -- but that’s not nearly enough.

In less than 5 days, the International Insurance Society holds its annual Global Insurance Forum in London. Over 500 executives, policy-makers and the media will be in attendance.

French insurance giant AXA has already divested because of huge amounts of pressure. With the help of SumOfUs members like you, we can pressure Zurich to do the same, and stop fuelling climate change.

Zurich: the only thing you’re insuring is climate change. Stop underwriting the fossil fuel industry now!

Zurich is one of the main global property insurers, and a key actor in the North American power sector.

A recent report from Profundo outlined how Zurich not only underwrites the fossil fuel industry, but invests heavily in it, currently holding over $3 billion dollars worth of investments.

But change is in the air.

AXA has already felt the pressure: in April this year it divested almost $200 million from oil and gas. But we need your help to push others to do the same if we’re serious about the threat of climate change. 

With our allies at Unfriend Coal, we are asking fossil fuel insurers to immediately: 

• Stop underwriting coal projects
• Divest their funds from coal companies
• Develop plans to move away from other fossil fuels
• Scale up their investment in clean energy sources

With the Global Insurance Forum fast approaching, time is of the essence. Let’s show Zurich that we’re paying attention, and we want them to divest now.
