With just weeks to the election, Facebook's policy chief, Joel Kaplan, has been using the vast social network to boost sites that pump out pro-Trump lies and climate denial, even stepping in to make the Daily Caller -- a cesspool of racism and misogyny -- an official fact-checker.

Kaplan’s influence is huge, but outside Facebook he’s anonymous -- so he’s skating by even as Facebook is under fire.
