Facebook and others should be able to assure us that all advertisements are based in fact. If they cannot do that, they should ban all online political advertising a year before the US elections. Big tech should ban micro-targeting (which allows ads to be targeted across specific demographics like age or gender), so that more people see the same political ads and lies cannot be told to specific groups. It's time we stopped political spin machines that use people's data to manipulate them. We should leave online political advertising alone. This country was built on free-speech and we should trust voters to separate the truth from the lies.
