This is a truly scary prospect: pharma giant Bayer is considering buying Monsanto making it the largest supplier of farm chemicals and seeds -- and giving it almost complete monopoly over worldwide agricultural production.
Do you trust Monsanto and Bayer to be in charge of worldwide food production? Neither do I.
This merger is bad news for all of us. The mega-corporation from hell would be nearly unstoppable in pushing its genetically modified seeds onto vulnerable communities, selling bee-killing pesticides, and exploiting farmers.
We need your help to speak out.
Can you chip in to make sure we can stop this mega-merger?
Monsanto is desperate to expand after its merger with Syngenta fell through.
This merger would create by far the biggest pesticide company the world has ever seen. And at the centre of their corporate agribusiness model is the indiscriminate, widespread use of pesticides linked to the massive global bee die-off.
Together, we were able to help stop the Syngenta - Monsanto merger because we showed that a corporation that big would have monopolistic power over farmers and the entire agriculture industry.
This new merger being discussed between Monsanto and Bayer would be just as bad, if not worse.
With your help, we'll continue our efforts to block any merger that would allow Monsanto to become part of a bee-killing monopoly -- including our vital shareholder work to hold agrochemical giants to account, our work supporting legal suits to save the bees, and much more.
Bayer and Monsanto are already using their size to influence politicians in the US and in Europe, on everything from cancer-causing chemicals to bee-killing pesticides. We can’t let this happen.
Once a merger like this goes through, it'll be impossible to undo the damage -- we need to act now to nip this merger talk in the bud.
Can you chip in?
