TripAdvisor is profiting from animal cruelty.

The travel company promotes and sells tickets to some of the world’s cruellest wildlife attractions -- from elephant rides where baby elephants have been trained using metal hooks to coffee plantations which cage civet cats and force them to gorge on an unbalanced diet.

We want a world where wild animals live in the wild -- where they belong.

And the tide is already turning. Over 100 travel companies have agreed to stop selling elephant rides to their customers. If we can get TripAdvisor, the world’s biggest travel site, to do the same, we can go a huge way towards ending cruelty to wild animals.

TripAdvisor: stop selling tickets to cruel animal tourist attractions!

Right now, more than half a million wild animals are suffering at the hands of irresponsible wildlife tourist venues. Many tourists don’t realise the cruelty that goes on behind the scenes at the attractions where they ride elephants, tour civet-poo coffee plantations, take tiger selfies, hold sea turtles or watch performing dolphins.

But World Animal Protection has listed all of these among its 10 cruellest wildlife attractions -- and TripAdvisor is selling tickets to many of them through its subsidiary company Viator.

Instead of profiting from animal cruelty, TripAdvisor should be educating itself and its customers on wildlife-friendly attractions.

SumOfUs members have been at the forefront of the fight against animal cruelty. Last year, we got  British Airways, Delta, KLM, Singapore Airways, Qantas and several other airlines to ban the transport of animal trophies after Cecil the lion was hunted and killed in Zimbabwe. Now let’s stop cruelty to wild animals in tourism.

Let’s tell TripAdvisor to stop promoting and profiting from animal cruelty.
