Thinx period underwear founder and "SHE-EO" Miki Agrawal has been celebrated by women everywhere for revolutionizing the way society discusses reproductive health issues. Now she and the company culture she created are under fire -- as Agrawal faces allegations that the women she employs aren't treated fairly.
As a small and fast-growing start-up, Thinx is dependent on good word of mouth. Let's use our consumer pressure to force the company to take notice and change its practices.
Tell Thinx to foster a healthier workplace for women -- improve pay and benefits now.
In a recent exposé, former and current employees have come forward citing a toxic, non-inclusive environment at Thinx.
Insiders have reported stories of expensive health care plans and last-minute (email) notices about decreases in paid time off. Employees are guaranteed a measly two weeks of paid parental leave. One employee even recalled being called a "bitch" in a business meeting. These accounts are just a few of the offences that employees say makes Thinx, a company that takes pride in its supposedly feminist credentials, a problematic place to work.
Thinx can't just market itself as a feminist company. It needs to walk the talk too. Thinx needs to guarantee good wages and benefits, and it needs to treat the women and non-binary people it employs with respect.
Thinx leadership improve your corporate culture immediately.
Although Miki Agrawal announced last week that she's stepping down as CEO, whoever takes the reins next will need to fix this toxic situation. Let's make sure it's a top priority.
