The Trump administration just gave an endangered bee species a death sentence.
The rusty patched bumblebee was slated to receive the first “endangered” designation for a bee species in the continental U.S last week -- but the Trump administration delayed the move the day before it was to take effect.
We know that Trump is cozy with Monsanto and Bayer execs -- whose bee-killing pesticides are responsible for the decline of bee populations worldwide. Labelling the bee endangered would have forced the government to come up with a plan to save the critical pollinators -- which could have included more restriction on deadly neonic pesticides.
Tell the Trump administration to save the rusty patched bumblebee!
The rusty patched bumblebee is a vital pollinator that was once widespread across the Midwest and Eastern Seaboard. But numbers have plummeted by 90% in just the last 20 years. “The Trump administration has put the rusty patched bumblebee back on the path to extinction,” said a senior attorney for the Natural Resources Defense Council.
Trump met in person last month with the CEOs of Bayer and Monsanto, who are planning a massive merger from hell that would solidify the market monopoly of two of the worst polluters and threats to bee populations on the planet. Hundreds of thousands of SumOfUs members have rallied to stop this merger -- but the rusty patched bumblebee might not be able to wait that long if we can’t convince the Trump administration to do its job and protect this bee.
We can save this bee, but we need to act now. Tell the White House to protect the rusty patched bumblebee.
