The Australian Government has handed out more than $2bn in lucrative contracts to the firms behind the tax avoidance schemes uncovered in the Paradise Papers.

PricewaterhouseCoopers, EY, Deloitte and KPMG.

These firms are the “masterminds” of multinational tax avoidance. They engineer schemes that siphon away billions of dollars -- money that could fund schools and hospitals in your local community -- into offshore tax havens.

As well as representing notorious tax-dodging clients like Glencore and Nike, over the past 10 years, these same Big Four firms pocketed more than $2.6bn from contracts with the Australian Government.

They’re taking us for a ride and we can’t let it go on.

Despite the Big Four’s well-documented role at the centre of the murky global underbelly exposed in the Paradise Papers, these firms still have privileged access to the most powerful decision-makers in the country: our Government.

As they sit advising their wealthy clients on how to avoid their Australian taxes in one room, they are penning reports for the Australian government on how to cut spending to support the most vulnerable in our communities.

They charge up to $75,000 a page for these reports -- and taxpayers like you end up footing the bill.

Offshore tax avoidance schemes, like those engineered by The Big Four, cost our community billions of dollars a year.

These schemes starve our health and education systems from critical funding that puts teachers in schools and beds in hospitals.

So long as their hands are dirty with tax dodging, these firms have no place as privileged and highly paid advisors to the Government as well.

Together, 25,000 of you signed the petition to Treasurer Scott Morrison to fix the Petroleum Rent Resource Tax, hundreds of you made calls to him, 8,000 of you made submissions to the Senate inquiry, and your generous donations also meant we got an ad into his local paper.

We’re moving the needle but we need to keep up the pressure on this Government to combat corporate tax dodging. We can only do this with voices like yours.
