Sweden has no minimum wage, so salary is set almost exclusively through collective agreements. Tesla is refusing to bargain.
And so workers went on strike, and have been for months now. In Germany as well, plant workers are organizing due to poor working conditions, extreme workload, and excessive production targets.
Elon Musk, owner of Tesla and the world’s richest man, is a proud union buster... But even he can’t win this fight against the very people who make and service Tesla cars. Tesla’s reputation is of utmost importance to Musk, so let’s make sure we expose the company until it respects its workers.
Tesla: no more union busting, sign the collective agreement!
The workers were not asking for more pay, but simply for Tesla to honor the principle of collective bargaining. And this strike is getting bigger every day, fellow workers across industries in Sweden, including postal workers, painters, dockworkers, and electricians have joined the strike in solidarity.
Rumour has it that the company would seek to deliver cars to Danish ports and transport them by truck across to Sweden. But guess what? Denmark’s largest trade union announced a sympathy strike.
Solidarity has been key to making them tremble, German and Norwegian workers might join this fight soon… Let’s show “the world’s richest man” that money isn’t enough and his company can’t overlook workers’ rights. With your signature, Musk will understand that the world stands with workers.
Tesla: no more union busting, sign the collective agreement!
The Ekō community has had union workers’ backs before, and this time can’t be different. We made Accor’s Ibis hotels respect its workers, and Musk’s multi-billion dollar company will do the same thanks to our collective power. Enough of profit over people, we want workers’ rights respected, and we want it NOW.
