The pre-cut produce we buy at Safeway and Costco comes at a high price for the workers who risk their well-being to prepare it.
In a warehouse in California’s Central Valley, a pregnant woman was rushed from her workplace to the hospital after repeated exposure to hazardous chemicals and freezing working conditions. The deplorable conditions at her employer, Taylor Farms (one of the world’s larges fresh-cut produce conglomerates) are well documented. Despite this, popular restaurant chains like Chipotle and McDonald’s continue to source their veggies from them.
Sign the petition and challenge Taylor Farms to put people before profit and improve working conditions in their factories, now.
The business hires low-wage workers and uses cleaning chemicals like chlorine to guarantee sterile food preparation. Desperate to earn a decent living; innocent employees are regularly exposed to the harmful side affects of those elements. If they dare to unionize and advocate for their rights, they are spied on, threatened or even fired.
Over the years, Taylor Farms has been fined in excess of $100,000 by the state of California for numerous employee violations. Even after experiencing two separate chemical accidents that sent 40 workers to the emergency room; leadership at the corporation is still denying wrongdoing.
You can change this. Sign the petition and demand that Taylor Farms stop sacrificing the livelihoods of its workers. Improve unsafe working conditions for employees, today.
