This is big: the EU Parliament is proposing to set up a special committee to investigate the authorisation of Monsanto's favourite pesticide.
In a historic vote, EU member states narrowly voted to renew the licence for the dangerous pesticide last year -- allowing Monsanto to spread the toxic chemical over Europe’s fields and put our health at risk.
They approved glyphosate -- even though it had been revealed that the regulatory authorities responsible for assessing the pesticide copied crucial parts of their evaluation directly from Monsanto, word for word.
Now, Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) are trying to get to the bottom of it.
In just a couple of days they will put the proposal for the special committee to a vote in the whole parliament -- and with pressure from SumOfUs members like you, we can help make sure MEPs vote the right way.
