The Ajax Mine Project is a $1.3-billion open-pit mine proposed for just outside Kamloops, BC. This destructive mining project, spearheaded by mining giant KGHM International, proposes a 2500 hectare open-pit mine close to Jacko Lake.
The project would endanger the health of Jacko and Goose Lakes as well as destroy habitat for more than 15 different species-at-risk. Ajax Mine is an unacceptable environmental risk and must be stopped.
Thankfully, the Stk'emlúpsemc te Secwépemc Nation has just rejected the project, as part of the environmental assessment process. However, this doesn't mean the project is dead in the water.
Sign today to demand KGHM stop the Ajax Mine Project.
The mine is proposed on the Stk'emlúpsemc te Secwépemc Nation's unceded territory and they should have the ultimate say in what happens with this project.
With help from people like you, we can build more momentum to support the Stk'emlúpsemc te Secwépemc Nation in stopping this dangerous mine.
Already, thousands of people locally have opposed the project and we can add thousands more voices and build real pressure for KGHM to abandon the project.
Please join me in standing with Indigenous people to stop the Ajax Mine
