On Tuesday, Trump did what so many have feared: he revived the Keystone XL pipeline project. The pipeline mega-project would transport over half a million barrels of dirty bitumen a day from the Alberta tar sands to the United States. This threatens the water of those who live along the pipeline's route, including farmers, ranchers and many different Indigenous tribes and nations.
Trump has proven that he cares more for corporate profit than for what United States citizens want. However, there is still hope. Canada has a strong anti-pipeline movement and greater legislative considerations for Indigenous land rights than the US.
The project was killed by the Obama administration because of monumental efforts of people like you. Let's make the Trudeau government kill Keystone XL again.
Call on Prime Minister Trudeau and Alberta Premier Notley to stop the Keystone XL pipeline!
Anti-pipeline activism has already taken an economic toll on the oil industry in Canada and is a politically contentious issue. The more pressure we can put on decision makers in provincially and federally, the harder we make it for pipelines like Keystone XL to get completed.
Trump may have OK'd the decision in the US but we are here to tell him that he will not get his way on this issue.
If we stand together, we can stop this dangerous, climate-destroying pipeline.
Will you tell Canada's leaders to say no to the Keystone XL pipeline?
