Tar sands mining is a carbon bomb and massive oil giants like Exxon-Mobil, Suncor and Shell are profiting from climate chaos and destruction.
Indigenous communities who have been on the front lines for years to protect their rights and defend the land against these evil fossil fuel companies need our support.
It’s urgent.
The largest ever tar sands mine, Teck Frontier, is being reviewed right now and we have to act. But our friends at Indigenous Climate Action have a plan. They are planning a crucial three-day camp to bring together Indigenous leaders and communities impacted by tar sands in order to build empowered communities to end the environmental destruction.
The camp is in a month, and if we can raise $10,000, we can ensure that more Indigenous leaders from far away communities can join to share, learn, and prepare to fight against these greedy oil barons.
This camp is critical to the movement and will be instrumental in stopping tar sands development for good, but we need your help now.
Will you chip in to support Indigenous leaders in their resistance to tar sands development?
Indigenous Climate Action has been working with Indigenous communities to create close networks of empowerment and support in the face of climate change. This camp is critical to the Indigenous movement defending the front-lines of the tar sands.
The massive oil companies decimating the land at the tar sands projects don’t respect Indigenous rights, because their rights have been so effective at stalling and blocking pipelines and projects throughout the continent. If you donate today, you can make sure more people can attend the camp. And the more people that can join, the more we will strengthen an effective frontline resistance against these profiteering oil giants.
We know we will never have the financial might of huge oil companies like Exxon-Mobil or Suncor. But, when each of us chips in a little we know we can fight them -- and win.
Will you chip in to support Indigenous leaders in their resistance to tar sands development?
SumOfUs has been supporting Indigenous led resistance to the tar sands for years. Recently over 12,000 members like you supported the Indigenous-led call to ensure the Teck Frontier Mine -- the largest tar sands mine ever proposed -- follows the new climate and indigenous rights regulations, instead of being pushed through on Harper’s old rules.
We know that Indigenous communities are the ones most affected by the tar sands and the ones best equipped to determine how to appropriately fight these corporations for the climate and their land and culture. That’s why your help now is critical to get as many leaders as possible so they can better stand strong for our future.
