The cost of solar and wind energy has plummeted by up to 85% over the past decade, making them cheaper than nuclear, gas and coal.
Renewables, combined with better insulation, provide the way out of the current energy crisis and help us stave off climate breakdown.
We need massive investment in renewables and measures to stop wasting energy quickly, which won’t happen without government help.
But Boris Johnson wants to build eight new nuclear reactors. And he recently passed a new law that allows companies building these nuclear power stations to add a surcharge onto our already eye-watering energy bills to cover construction costs.
Call on the UK government and investors: back a renewables and energy efficient future. Don’t invest in new nuclear and fossil fuels.
