**URGENT update 3rd September 2022: The government is actively planning another deportation flight to Rwanda. Call on the charter airlines not operate it via email, or tweet**
Imagine fleeing the horrors of war. You've survived a dangerous journey over land and sea and finally arrived in the UK.
You’ve come here believing you will be offered sanctuary, compassion and a better life for your family -- only to be rounded up, placed in detention, and told you'll be forced onto a flight bound for Rwanda. This is the reality right now for many people seeking refuge in the UK.
The first Rwanda deportation -- serviced by Spain-based airline Privilege Style -- was stopped at the eleventh hour on human rights grounds. But Priti Patel has vowed to continue with these cruel policies. She can only succeed, though, if there are airlines willing to operate the flights.
Public outcry has forced Virgin Atlantic, Tui, and American Airlines to step back from supporting unjust immigration policies. Together we can make the companies that took their place follow suit.
Tell Privilege Style, HiFly, Iberojet, Wamos, AirTanker, Titan airlines and their corporate clients & customers to stop doing business with deportation.
Disgust at the Rwanda policy dominates the news, but this government operates other forced deportations as part of the ‘hostile environment’ agenda.
People who have lived here all their lives are suddenly told they do not have the right to remain, and are torn away from families, put into detention and onto flights.
Only a couple of weeks after the flight to Rwanda was stopped, Portugal-based HiFly was only too happy to line its coffers by operating a flight to Nigeria with a gay man on board who fled to the UK fearing for his life. Having been outed in newspapers there, he fears he is facing near certain death on his forced return.
Four of the government’s deportation charters of choice are based in Spain and Portugal, so they think they can keep profiteering without any risk to their reputations. But they didn’t think about the combined power of SumOfUs members from the UK, Spain & Portugal coming together.
Demand charter airlines stop putting lives at risk by operating these cruel deportations!
