Write an Email - say: NO to GMOs!

Back in Brussels, MEPs are under heavy pressure from lobbyists and business allies.

Behind closed doors, deals are being struck that could decide what ends up on our plates -- potentially taking away our right to choose if we want to eat GMOs or not.

It's time to act and make sure that EU decision-makers defend the rights of the people.

Let's flood their electronic inboxes!

Here are some talking points to consider -- but remember personalising your message is the most powerful way!

  1. Freedom of Choice
I have the right to know what’s in my food. Mandatory labelling of all GMOs, old or new, is essential so consumers and farmers can make informed choices and keep access to GMO-free products.

  2. Protecting Health and the Environment
Genetic engineering is an artificial intervention in nature. Past GMOs have shown risks for human health, biodiversity, and ecosystems – those risks still apply to new GM techniques and cannot be swept under the rug and made disappear.

  3. Transparency and Traceability
Removing labelling and traceability rules would make it impossible to separate GM from non-GM production. This undermines organic farming, GMO-free food systems, and clear consumer choice.

  4. Public Opposition
Most EU citizens want strict regulation and labelling of GMOs. As my elected representative, you must reflect this demand and reject any law that deregulates new GM techniques.

  5. No Way Back Once Released
Once new GMOs are released into fields and ecosystems, the risks cannot be contained or undone. Precaution and rigorous safeguards must come before deregulation.

  6. Food Safety First – People first
New GM techniques are largely untested. Without strict case-by-case safety assessments, we cannot guarantee that food, seeds, or the environment remain protected. With that, we, the people, are put first and protected.
