UPDATE 15 JUNE: More than one million Europeans have signed the European Citizens’ Initiative (ECI) to ban glyphosate! We will submit all the signatures at the beginning of July. You can still add your name and spread the word!
The European Union is expected to decide soon whether to license glyphosate weedkiller for 15 more years, despite cancer-warnings from the UN’s International Agency for Research on Cancer. The agrochemical industry has its legion of lobbyists -- but one million ordinary Europeans could put Monsanto's favourite active ingredient out of action for good!
A coalition of grassroots groups, health- and environment experts across Europe are using an official petition for EU voters -- called a European Citizens Initiative (ECI) -- to fight back. A successful ECI guarantees us a right to a public hearing in the European Parliament, and compels the Commission to spell out what action it will take in response.
Sign the European Citizens Initiative calling for a ban on glyphosate, a trustworthy pesticide approval procedure, and EU-wide targets to cut pesticide use.
For legal reasons, signing is a two step process: First sign with SumOfUs here so we can keep you updated. Then you can sign officially on the next page. Your government decides what information is requested and will use it (e.g. your place and date of birth) to validate your signature. SumOfUs cannot access your data from that form.
To support a European Citizens' Initiative, you must be an EU citizen (national of an EU member state) and be old enough to vote in European Parliament elections (18 except Austria where the voting age is 16).
Not eligible to sign, but want to help? Please share this page with people you know who can sign.
