Tajani has strong ties to the Aerospace and Defence Industries Association of Europe (ASD), the most important arms lobby group in Europe. He is committed to creating a “stronger arms industry” in the EU.
However, no one knows what a stronger arms industry in the EU would do other than allow arms manufacturers to profit short-term. Many individual countries in the EU have their our military defences and the views of EU countries are highly divided on issues of military intervention. The EU is not a military power nor should it ever be.
We must stop this partnership between the arms industry and the EU. Sign now!
The EU is drenched in social crises as austerity measures strip away social programs. Unemployment is on the rise and political and environmental refugees flood the borders looking for safety. Now is not the time for excessive spending on a useless arms industry program.
Anti-austerity protests have been happening all over Europe for years now and the proposed arms spending by the European Parliament will only spark more outrage by EU citizens.
The new President should be focusing on how to increase quality of life for the millions of citizens of the EU rather than cozying up with the arms industry.
Tell the European Parliament that the arms industry has no place in EU politics
