Wow - major news! In response to our petition and the viral video shot by Tavish Campbell, Fisheries Minister Dominic LeBlanc announced major changes to the Fisheries Act last week.
This is a huge victory for our coasts and wild salmon -- and it was only possible because of people like you. Also in response to your campaigns, BC Environment Minister George Heyman announced a full review of processing plants that are spewing untreated, farmed salmon blood into migratory routes for wild salmon and a full review of sea-lice treatments of farmed salmon!
We’ve reached out to the top voices on wild salmon and their suggestions for amending the Fisheries Act are below. We've got an example of an email you can send to politicians, but it's better to write in your own words if you can. After you press send, your email will be sent straight to BC Premier John Horgan, BC Environment Minister George Heyman, BC Agricultural Minister Lana Popham and several other key MLAs.
