Over the last several months we’ve told you about Osceola Township’s fight to protect its water from Nestlé’s greed. Over and over again SumOfUs members answered the call to support this tiny township in its David and Goliath battle with Nestlé.
When a judge ruled in favour of Nestlé, Osceola Township decided to appeal and continue to protect its water. And thanks to caring members like you, we were able to give them another $20,000 USD to fund the appeal. This makes a massive $50,000 total that we were able to give to this township to allow them fight Nestlé to protect their water.
The people of Osceola Township are everyday heroes. Without their hard work and dedication, Nestlé would be sucking Michigan dry. We want to say a huge thank you to the people on the ground, doing the incredible work of fighting Nestlé.
Will you join me in sending a message of gratitude to Osceola Township for their amazing work fighting Nestlé?
Nestlé has tried its hardest to intimidate Osceola Township into handing over its precious water. But time and again Osceola township has shown that they will not buckle to Nestlé’s bullying.
SumOfUs members have been instrumental in helping Osceola Township fight back. When Nestlé started its first lawsuit, Osceola Township risked bankruptcy from the legal fees, in order to fight to protect their water. That’s when you stepped up and chipped in a massive $30,000 USD and likely prevented the township from going bankrupt, which allowed them to keep fighting for their water.
They sent along this special message for you to thank you for your continuous support. This is a message from Martin Neiman, the Osceola Township Legal Defense Fund Treasurer:
"We want to thank the thousands of SumOfUs members that helped us cover the debt incurred by this lawsuit. It feels powerful to see the names of hundreds of thousands of people from all over the world standing with us on the first day of the court case filed by Nestlé. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts."
Legal battles are stressful and take a huge toll emotionally. Let’s show the good people of Osceola Township that we have their backs and will support them as they continue to fight to protect their water from Nestlé’s greed.
Send a personal thank you message to Osceola Township now.
