We have just a few days to protect wild salmon from toxic pesticides used in fish farms. Sea-lice levels in fish farms in Clayoquot Sound were at unprecedented levels this year. And the BC government granted Cermaq, a massive salmon farming corporation, a permit to dump millions of litres of a corrosive pesticide to deal with the problem.
But the torturous pesticide, which literally burns off the outer protective coating of the salmon's body and harms crustaceans in the area, was ineffective. More pesticides are not the answer and the BC government needs to hear that from folks in BC now.
