A handful of key MEPs could swing this vote. Let’s tell them: no delays and no amendments to the deforestation law! Remind MEPs that there’s no future without forests!
Here are some key points to include in your email but feel free to personalise it as much as you’d like.
- This law could be a game-changer for forest protection. In just 12 months an area of forest 14 times the size of Paris would be protected.
- Many companies have spent many months preparing to comply with the new law, we can’t let a few vested interests - such as the timber industry - derail this important law.
- The Amazon has just witnessed the worst wildfires for two decades, burning tens of thousands of hectares of precious rainforest to the ground.
- We must urgently act to protect what’s left - and that means protecting the EU deforestation law - no delay, no amendments.
The key MEPs that we need to pressure are:
- Mr Daniel Caspary, co-head of the German national delegation of the EPP party grouping
- Ms Dolors Montserrat, head of the Spanish national delegation and head of the EPP economy and environment working group
- Mr Tom Berendsen, head of the Netherlands national delegation of the EPP party grouping
- Mr François Xavier Bellamy, head of the French national delegation of the EPP party grouping
You can choose to email one or all of these MEPs.
