BlueTriton makes its money by pumping water out of communities suffering from drought and water scarcity, selling the water in plastic bottles that end up in landfills, and then claiming that it is a “planet and people conscious” company.
It is clear that BlueTriton is trying to cover up its harmful business practices with greenwashed propaganda. The company’s own lawyers say that its sustainability claims are “puffery” not to be taken seriously.
But BlueTriton is able to get away with its deception by partnering with people that the public trusts. Master Chef Wolfgang Puck is the latest celebrity that BlueTriton has enlisted to sell its unethically sourced and planet-destroying bottled water.
Sign the petition to demand that Chef Wolfgang Puck cut ties with BlueTriton now.
BlueTriton’s deception goes even further than its bogus sustainability claims. The company is charging people for a product that may not be better or even as good as the water coming out of your tap.
There is currently a lawsuit against BlueTriton claiming that Poland Spring water is actually groundwater, and not 100% spring water as advertised. And at least some of the water in Arrowhead “100% spring water” is actually groundwater according to Colorado state law. So who knows what’s in BlueTriton’s other spring water brands.
Wolfgang Puck has just signed up to be an Ambassador for BlueTriton’s ORIGIN spring water. He’ll be making public appearances and be featured in online campaigns to convince people to buy BlueTriton’s “spring-to-table” water.
But is ORIGIN, formerly known as Poland Spring ORIGIN, all that different from the controversial Poland Spring brand? Is the public paying more for a higher quality water or just a fancier bottle? And just because the bottle is made from recycled plastic, doesn’t mean it still won’t end up in a landfill.
Wolfgang Puck has said that he cares about the environment and sustainability. He also cares about fresh, local, high-quality ingredients. So it makes no sense that he would align himself with a company whose actions show that it likely doesn’t share the same values.
Tell Wolfgang Puck to live his values and cut ties with controversial bottled water giant BlueTriton.
