We finally have a chance to transform the destructive palm oil industry from within. We have a plan to protect the rainforest, the orangutans, and the workers from the greed of companies like PepsiCo.
And we need your help to do it.
In a rare moment of transparency, the main palm oil industry certifying body -- the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) -- is consulting the public on its rules. It’s huge because massive companies like PepsiCo and Nestlé are bound by these rules and rely on them to craft their own sourcing policies. Now more than ever, our rainforests and the orangutans needs this extra layer of protection.
But we only have 6 days -- so we need to make it count.
Here’s how we’ll do it: we’ll pay for ads in industry-focused outlets and online shops selling RSPO certified products to pressure the body where it hurts most. We’ll also pay for Facebook ads so thousands more people can take part in the consultation and voice their love for our rainforests -- until the RSPO does the right thing.
Can you chip in now to maximize this rare opportunity and stop palm oil deforestation for good?
SumOfUs has joined forces with 60 other groups to demand the RSPO tightens and implements its rules. Crowd-funded online ads will put the RSPO under pressure to actually have teeth and enforce stricter rules on palm oil producers and suppliers.
The planet, the animals, and the communities living and working in palm oil plantations can’t wait any longer.
With your support we can get thousands of comments from SumOfUs members in the RSPO’s inbox. We can flood the internet with our demands and show companies like Nestlé and PepsiCo, who are members of the RSPO, that they won’t get away with deforestation any longer.
Will you chip in to pressure the RSPO to protect the planet, the animals and the workers from destructive palm oil?
The Indonesian island of Borneo is losing an area of forest the size of a football pitch EVERY 47 seconds. As forests are cleared, endangered species like orangutans and pygmy elephants lose their habitat, and eventually die. In the last 16 years, half Borneo’s orangutan population was wiped out.
Workers are abused by reckless producers and palm oil deforestation on carbon-rich peatland releases carbon bombs in our atmosphere, worsening climate chaos.
This is our very last opportunity to force the RSPO and its members like PepsiCo to comply with the No Deforestation, No Peat, No Exploitation palm oil policies before the 2020 deadline they’ve committed to. With your help, we’ve forced companies like McDonald’s and Starbucks to adopt no deforestation palm oil policies. Today we need you to go all in and stop palm oil deforestation for good.
Will you chip in to help stop palm oil deforestation today?
