Big Oil wants to start deep sea drilling thousands of metres below the pristine sea of the Great Australian Bight.
And it’s got the WA’s Department of Mines’ support.
The iconic Bight stretches across the South and Western Australian coastlines and has stunning cliff faces, great surfing beaches, and an amazing array of marine life.
The Bight is home to many threatened and endangered species including Australian sea lions, humpback and blue whales, southern bluefin tuna, and the white-bellied seal.
And Big Oil is putting this all at risk.
Fierce campaigning by environmental groups pushed BP to abandon plans to drill in the Bight, but other oil giants like Chevron, Santos and Murphy oil are all eyeing up the Bight’s oil basin. You can make sure they don’t move instead.
Can you tell the West Australian government: protect our pristine waters not Big Oil's profits?
