Bayer and Monsanto just filed their $66bn merger for approval -- edging closer and closer to a monopoly over our entire global food supply.
And we have just 14 days to stop it.
European regulators are deciding whether to approve it right now and at this crucial time we need the support from SumOfUs members like you.
This is our plan: With your help, we are going to flood the office of the EU Commissioner Vestager with your postcards to show that the world does not want a Bayer-Monsanto merger.
It's best to use your own words, but if you'd like some inspiration, these are some things you could say in your postcard:
- The merger will hurt small farmers because it will raise prices for seeds and pesticides and leave farmers with less choice.
- The merger will be bad for consumers as it would lead to higher prices.
- The merger would lead to more monocultures that could become a disaster for our global food systems.
- Bayer’s neonics are harming bee populations worldwide, and Monsanto’s Roundup kills the main food source for Monarch butterflies, which are now at risk of extinction.
