Nestle has been in a court battle for the last 12 years, trying to shirk responsibility for child labour practices in its supply chain. Six young men who were sold into Nestle plantations in the 1990s have come forward to force the corporate giant to take responsibility for horrible conditions in its supply chain.
These men were subject to slave labour and abuse, forced to work 14 hour days without pay, fed nothing but scraps and punished severely when they tried to escape.
Despite proof this happened on Nestle's own plantations, Nestle is fighting the case, saying that they are not responsible for the horrible conditions, claiming they didn’t know that this was happening. This side stepping is unacceptable.
Tell Nestle to take responsibility for its child slave labour practices
Nestle’s argument of ignorance just doesn’t cut it. Nestle must take responsibility for its lackadaisical approach to supply chain management. The people who have suffered under their horrific conditions must be allowed to seek justice.
By pressuring Nestle to accept responsibility for its child labour practices, it increases the likelihood of Nestle taking abuses within its supply chain seriously, saving thousands of children from slave labour and abuse. If the children who suffer because of these practices have a viable legal course of action they could take, Nestle would have to stop immediately or face the ramifications of thousands of lawsuits.
Will you sign today and help give these children a better hope for the future?
