The World Health Organization's cancer research agency (IARC) classified Monsanto's favorite weedkiller chemical as a probable cause of cancer. Now Monsanto is declaring war on the World Health Organization.
The European Union is currently considering whether to allow the sale of glyphosate for another ten years.
So now Monsanto has launched a desperate smear campaign attacking IARC scientists as "corrupt" because the scientists didn't accept the findings of a series of Monsanto-funded studies which said glyphosate is safe.
This is just another example of the agrigiant trying to steamroll agencies, the public, and science itself in order to get its way. Will you chip in monthly to help us fight Monsanto?
Monsanto won't back down, whether in its fight to keep bee-killing pesticides and cancer-causing herbicides on the market or its push to merge with fellow agrigiant Bayer -- and neither should we. Because what we stand for is important: our families, communities, and environment come before corporate profit.
If you make a monthly donation today, we can expand our work, think big, plan with confidence, and act quickly when crucial moments call for it. Because campaigning against corporations so they do the right thing costs money -- whether it's with hard-hitting ads and billboards, hiring lawyers to take them on in court, commissioning research, or doing stunts outside their headquarters.
We may never have as much money as big corporations, but when all of us chip in a little bit, we become powerful enough to take them on.
The SumOfUs community has shown that time and time again people power can win against corporations. Together, we've made France the first country to decide to ban bee-killing pesticides; we've derailed dangerous, corporate-backed trade deals like TTIP (between the US and EU); and we've forced some of the biggest brands in the world to commit to using only responsible palm oil.
That’s just to name a few.
We've only got 34 staff members and our costs aren't high. We're lean but we're effective. The more we can depend on regular donations, the more time we can spend running and winning campaigns. We're 100% independent. We take no money from the government or corporations -- we run almost entirely on donations from the SumOfUs community. This lets us do what needs to be done, when it needs to be done.
Your donation will ensure that we can take on corporate power for many years to come.
