Huge news. Together with our friends at Michigan Citizens for Water Conservation, we’re stopping Nestlé from sucking up millions of gallons of water in Michigan.
After 375,000 SumOfUs members from around the world spoke up against Nestle’s water grab, the state authorities are taking steps to protect the Muskegon watershed from corporate profiteering. The Michigan Department for Environmental Quality just scheduled a public hearing on the project and asked Nestlé to submit a rigorous environmental review.
This is a big step forward, but we can't declare victory yet. You'd better believe that the bottled water giant, along with its teams of lawyers and its friends in the state government, will push hard to ram this project through. Let's show the brave folks fighting Nestlé on the ground that there are thousands of people from around the world standing with them.
