Update: 21 December 2017
Great news: Goodman Fielder, makers of MeadowLea margarine, has listened to the concerns of SumOfUs members like you and updated its palm oil policy!
This is a big step.
But it’s not enough to stop labour rights abuses and the destruction of precious rainforests. A policy is only empty words if nothing is done to make those words reality.
That’s why Goodman Fielder need to commit to a clear implementation and accountability plan to make sure that all the palm oil in its supply chain comes from responsible, sustainable producers.

MeadowLea has been an Australian household favourite for decades but behind the family-oriented brand lies something sinister.
The margarine’s owner Goodman Fielder has ties to deforestation and workers’ rights abuses that are happening on palm oil plantations in Southeast Asia.
This palm oil could be going straight into MeadowLea -- the margarine that’s supposedly wholesome, good for our families, and our health.
It doesn’t have to be this way. When SumOfUs members have taken action together in the past, we’ve pushed some of the biggest companies in the world to adopt responsible palm oil policies: like McDonald’s, Dunkin’ Donuts, and Taco Bell.
We can do the same in Australia, but only if you raise our voice with the rest of the SumOfUs community.
Tell MeadowLea to stay true to its brand and commit to using only responsible palm oil now.
Goodman Fielder is jointly owned by Wilmar and First Pacific -- big companies which have recently been under fire for sourcing conflict palm oil.
It’s time that Goodman Fielder clarify its position and show us whether it is actually Australia’s and New Zealand’s leading food manufacturer.
The global demand for palm oil is driving the clearing of swathes of precious rainforest and carbon-rich peatlands.
It’s destroying the homes of already endangered animals in South East Asia, and pushing animals like orangutans, elephants, and tigers to the brink of extinction.
As forests are cleared, greenhouse gas emissions skyrocket, fuelling climate change.
Many workers in the palm oil industry are exploited: they’re paid little or nothing at all. In some cases, children are working on these plantations. Workers don’t have access to proper safety equipment, and are exposed to highly toxic chemicals on a daily basis.
By forcing brands like MeadowLea to commit to using only truly responsible palm oil, we can make this industry clean its act up once and for all.
Add your voice to tell MeadowLea to do the right thing on palm oil now.
The SumOfUs community has come together in the hundreds of thousands to force the palm oil industry to clean up its act.
