As the
war between big business and protesting fast food workers rages on in the Fight
for $15; McDonald's has drawn a line in the sand. Through
intimidation, surveillance, and even threats of arrest, the burger conglomerate
is systematically violating the civil rights of employees who choose to speak
out.
However, these courageous won't be pushed around by the multibillion-dollar enterprise. They are fighting back and have filed
a lawsuit to expose McDonald's predatory tactics. Employees allege that police claimed they were given the green light to apprehend
protesting fast food workers.
Sign the petition and demand
that McDonald’s cease intimidation and surveillance of protestors fighting for
a higher wage.
The
lawsuit alleges that since Memphis workers took part in a nationwide day of
protest in late 2014, they have been subject to harassment. Law enforcement has physically attempted to
prevent restaurant employees from signing petitions for better working
conditions by stepping behind McDonald’s counters, and even blackballed
participants from city hall. After Fight for $15 held a “teach-in" about Andy
Puzder, who, at the time was Donald Trump’s selection for labor secretary and
former fast food CEO, attendees allege
they were followed in unmarked cars after leaving the event.
McDonald’s is intent on
punishing workers who dare to mobilize for a better life. We can help change
this.
Sign the petition and demand
that McDonald’s immediately put an end to the stalking and harassment of
workers participating in the Fight for $15.
