Last week, a pilot whale died in Thailand with eight kilograms (17 pounds) of plastic garbage clogging its stomach.
Unable to hunt or eat, the whale suffered a slow, painful death.
This is not an isolated tragedy. Plastic is polluting our waters and killing marine life, and plastic garbage is reaching critical levels. In fact, humans have dumped more plastic into our oceans in the last ten years than in the previous century. And a big contributor to this plastic pollution is plastic straws from fast food.
SumOfUs members are pressuring McDonald’s to stop its plastic pollution. We have already pushed the company to start phasing out plastic straws in the UK and Brussels, now we want to launch billboard ads calling on McDonald's to do the same in the U.S.
Will you chip in and help save our oceans from plastic?
