Marvel’s next blockbuster will feature an Israeli superhero working for Israel’s intelligence agency the Mossad. It might seem harmless - but this agency is behind some really terrible stuff from torturing people in horrific ways to extrajudicial assassinations.
Plus the Mossad fuels the brutal military occupation of Palestine — the last thing we need is Marvel glorifying this harmful agency.
But we still have time to act — if we show Marvel thousands of people across the world are urging them to drop this character, we can get “Sabra” cancelled from the next film.
The announcement of the movie and the character was made around the anniversary of the Sabra and Shatila refugee camps massacre in Lebanon 40 years ago, where 3,500 Palestinian and Lebanese civilians were killed with assistance from the Israeli military. One of the worst atrocities in modern Middle Eastern history.
It’s common for Hollywood to depict secret agents, but when the agency is actively breaking international law and committing horrific crimes — it becomes inexcusable. There are endless plot lines and characters Marvel could use to achieve the exact same storyline without having to glorify the Mossad.
But the company will only move if they see major international backlash. That’s where we come in. Add your name now, and share this widely — let’s help make Marvel execs the real superheroes.
