Right now, our future crucially hinges on reducing our reliance on fossil fuels and moving towards a safe, clean energy future. Yet some of world’s top universities are deeply entangled with the fossil fuel industry, and these ties are being hidden from the public.
Oil, gas and mining companies like BP, ExxonMobil and Chevron, have infiltrated academic research institutions around the globe, secretly sponsoring university research that shapes our approach and progress in tackling climate change.
Industry-sponsored studies tend to support conclusions that benefit industry: they direct the focus of research and development on to projects that benefit their bottom line and crowd out alternative voices and solutions.
Shouldn’t we have the right to know when research is funded by Big Oil money?
