Oil giant Kinder Morgan is trying to redraw the boundaries of 4 gorgeous BC parks to build a tar sands pipeline.
The BC government is accepting public comments on Kinder Morgan's proposal -- but the comment period closes tomorrow at midnight. That means we have just 24 hours to convince the BC government to protect our provincial parks from oil spills.
Last spring, over 167,000 of us spoke out against a new law that gave oil, gas and mining companies the power to open up BC’s provincial parks to industry. And now we need to speak up again -- before Kinder Morgan is allowed to take protected land away from BC Parks to make way for its Trans Mountain oil pipeline.
Use the form on the right to tell BC Parks to protect our land from oil pipelines.
Canada’s national parks are treasured all around the world. And now, they are in real danger. Last spring, leaked documents showed the BC government was considering redrawing the boundaries of 30 parks to accommodate destructive new gas and oil pipelines. Now, the BC government is considering a proposal to redraw the boundaries of 4 separate parks -- Finn Creek, North Thompson River, Lac Du Bois Grasslands Protected Area and Bridal Veil Falls -- so that Kinder Morgan can run a tar sands pipeline through previously protected parkland. We have a big opportunity to make our voices heard, but we have to act fast.
We’ve fought back the oil industry's attempts to bend the rules before. 167,000 of us stood up to keep Big Oil out of BC Parks. 25,000 of us fought to keep oil companies out of school classrooms. And together, we exposed tar sands giant Suncor's lobbying to weaken critical water regulations. We can save our parks from Kinder Morgan -- but we have to act now before the public comment period closes on Sunday.
Add your voice now to protect our parks from Kinder Morgan.
