We thought we’d slayed the fracking monster when the government announced a permanent ban in 2019.
But now, Boris Johnson is considering a u-turn. He’s using the war in Ukraine and ban on Russian oil and gas as the excuse.
Fracking lobbyists have seen their chance in this crisis and have been hard at work sweet talking climate-denying MPs, in the hope they can bend the Prime Minister’s ear.
But the only people who will benefit are the execs and shareholders of big oil and gas. Even the government’s own energy department agrees -- stating that any additional UK production won’t make any difference in gas prices, and companies will sell it off to the highest bidder anyway.
Talk about capitalising on misery.
If one thing’s clear right now is that we need to end our fossil fuel addition and switch to renewables. For our climate, for peace and for our wallets.
Join the call to keep the fracking ban.
