Just now, the EU took a bold stand against Monsanto by banning the agro-giant’s lobbyists from entering European parliament. This is a huge step forward in stopping lobbying power that puts people and the planet at risk for the sake of corporate profits.
Monsanto has spent years lobbying the EU, U.S., and Canada to spread GMO crops and seeds and influence policy on its toxic herbicide glyphosate. It’s time the U.S. and Canada follow the EU’s lead and take back control of lawmaking that protects the health of our communities and the environment.
Will you take action against the corporate power grabbing of Monsanto’s lobbyists and tell our elected officials to ban lobbyists from Monsanto?
Monsanto has been responsible for some truly horrific things -- from selling glysophates that are known cancer-causing neurotoxins to undermining the rights of our governments. SumOfUs members have been going after Monsanto in big ways over the last few years.
In 2016 alone, Monsanto spent nearly $2.5 million on U.S. lobbying efforts. That money is shaping laws and regulations that put all of us at risk -- as workers, consumers, farmers, and global citizens.
For too long, the agrochemical industry has hired an army of lobbyists to try and drown out the voices of concerned scientists, public health experts and citizens. Now, it’s up to us to use people power to stand up to them!
Tell our elected officials it’s time to take back control of politics from Monsanto’s corporate lobbyists.
