All over North America people are dying in record numbers from opioid overdoses, most linked to the powerful opioid Fentanyl. It is a health crisis of epic proportions and one drug can help save lives from accidental overdoses: naxolone.
Naxolone can prevent overdose deaths. Kaleo, a pharmaceutical company that makes a naxolone injector called Evzio, has recently raised the price from $690US to $4500US, making it inaccessible for harm-reduction clinics and individuals.
It is abhorrent that, amid such a crisis, Kaleo is trying to profit off something that will save thousands of lives.
Tell Kaleo to stop profiting on the opioid overdose crisis.
Evzio can be used by non-medically trained individuals, meaning that a family member or friend could help prevent a death before first responders arrive at the scene. There is very little competition on the market for this kind of naxolone product.
Kaleo is blatantly taking advantage of a public health crisis for its own financial gains. It would rather make millions of dollars than save countless lives.
However, they are susceptible to public backlash. With the help of people like you, we can pressure Kaleo to drop the prices back to previous levels and ensure that it is not making millions off opioid overdosing.
