IKEA has broken its promise to ensure that chicken sourced for its restaurants only come from suppliers that meet basic ethical and animal welfare standards by the end of 2016.
IKEA still hasn’t met these promises and it’s now the end of 2017. It’s one thing to announce with great fanfare that you will behave ethically, it’s quite another to do the long, slow, hard work necessary to meet those commitments. It’s time IKEA stopped pushing out press releases and started putting into practice its promises.
A huge public outcry forced IKEA to change its unethical ways. After pressure from groups like Compassion in World Farming and others IKEA recognised it had a problem. This shows that IKEA will respond if our community can come together and demand IKEA lives up to its promises.
