Murdoch’s media empire is spreading climate denial while Australia’s wildlife burns. Yet there are still some massive companies like Ikea and Expedia advertising in Murdoch’s newspapers and on his TV stations.
Time to hit Murdoch where it hurts -- his wallet!
Just last month, Rupert Murdoch splashed an editorial claiming “Warming is good for us” across the pages of his Australian newspaper, the Herald Sun. These lies confuse the public and slow government action on climate change.
Everyone thinks the Murdoch media empire is impenetrable. But cracks in his fortress are showing: His employees are resigning, celebrities are berating him - even his own son has blasted the tycoon for his climate lies!
And advertisers are shifting to social media, eating into Murdoch’s profits.
Yet Ikea, Expedia and others keep advertising in Murdoch’s media outlets -- giving them credibility as well as advertising revenue that pays for them to keep broadcasting lies.
These are companies that should know better -- and they care what we think. Together, we can persuade them to pull their advertising from Murdoch’s climate-denying media machine and begin to topple the lies.
IKEA and Expedia: Stop bankrolling Murdoch’s climate denial machine.
