Last month, Colombian indigenous campaigner Taita Pedro traveled to Ireland for the annual shareholder meeting of paper giant Smurfit Kappa. He wanted to look the CEO destroying the rainforests of his ancestral lands in the eye and ask him to stop.

It was extraordinarily brave. 78 human rights defenders from this part of Colombia have been murdered in two years, many killed by paramilitary troops allegedly working for land-grabbing corporations. To speak out is to put your life at risk.

Now that Taita Pedro’s face and name are known, he’s in grave danger. But there’s a plan to keep him safe – and we can make it happen.

Taita Pedro is about to launch a huge advocacy push to demand action to protect the Misak people’s lands. If we all chip in, we can provide critical security he needs to ensure he stays safe while he continues his fight for justice.
