Did you hear? Cafe chain Pret is trialling refillable water bottles, with free filtered water stations, in a bid to reduce plastic waste.
Now Sir David Attenborough has just called for action on plastics to be taken immediately, so we’re asking baking giant Greggs to follow Pret's lead and offer options that cut the plastic.
Tell Greggs it's time to ditch plastic bottles!
With the country getting through a staggering 35 million new plastic bottles every single day, and nearly half those going unrecycled, it's high time that big business makes efforts to stem the tide.
All those bottles that don't go in the recycling end up in landfill, and choking our oceans and rivers. Thanks to our single use plastic habit, plastic particles have been found in everything from tap water to salt. Researchers in Paris even found plastic raining from the sky.
And despite dropping its opposition to bottle deposit schemes, Coca-Cola increased its production of plastic bottles by over 1 billion last year.
We can’t go on like this. It’s important for corporations like Greggs to take the lead and reduce their plastic footprints.
With Pret taking steps towards ditching plastic, and Selfridges already getting rid of one-use plastic bottles at its stores, the fight to get single use plastic bottles off our shelves looks more and more winnable.
Tell Greggs it's time to ditch plastic bottles!
Over 266,000 SumOfUs members like you took action to call on McDonald to stop polluting our oceans with plastic straws. Now let's take the fight to Greggs and show them that consumers want them to ditch single use plastic bottles and offer refillable water bottles and tap water stations.
