Everyone knows that coal has no future. It’s dirty, polluting and yesterday’s energy source. Country after country are pledging to phase out coal. But not Greece.
Greece has two of the dirtiest coal plants of them all. The two power plants both use lignite which is widely recognised as the worst form of the worst fossil fuel.
But instead of pledging to shut down these plants the Greek government waved through new permits that allow these plants to pollute above levels established in EU law.
So this is where we come in. We don’t need coal power because we have people-power! If we can generate enough pressure Europe-wide we can shame the Greek government into taking action on these plants, follow EU law, and pledge to phase out coal power altogether.
Sign the petition to the Greek government to phase out its dirty coal power plants.
