UPDATE: Under pressure from over 37,000 SumOfUs members like you, General Mills is finally asking its farmers to reduce the use of toxic glyphosate found in its products.
But getting toxic pesticides out of our food shouldn’t be voluntary: we need to keep building pressure to call on General Mills to phase glyphosate out of its supply chain entirely.
Original Petition:
New research has found that Cheerios and Nature Valley contain dangerous levels of glyphosate — the carcinogen found in Monsanto's notorious weedkiller Roundup.
From quick breakfasts to school snacks, kids are eating General Mills products every day.
General Mills markets itself as a family brand — but exposing our families to harmful levels of glyphosate has broken our trust. That’s why we need to come together to hold General Mills accountable and commit to keeping customers safe by eliminating glyphosate from its supply chain.
Tell General Mills to earn back customers’ trust by limiting glyphosate levels in its products.
For too long, the EPA has been doing the dirty work of Monsanto and its parent company, Bayer — increasing the legal limit on glyphosate levels on oats 300-fold in the past 25 years alone. That’s why glyphosate is showing up in General Mills oat products at levels experts consider unsafe.
But the tide is starting to turn against Bayer. Besides the World Health Organization, California also lists glyphosate in its registry of chemicals known to cause cancer, a designation recently upheld by the state Supreme Court. Not to mention over 11,000 lawsuits facing Bayer-Monsanto from average people who say Roundup exposure caused their cancer.
Which means General Mills has to face the growing consensus: exposure to glyphosate is dangerous, and the toxic herbicide has no place in the foods our families eat every day. If the EPA won’t take steps to protect the public from toxic chemicals, its up to corporations like General Mills to ensure their products are free of carcinogens like glyphosate.
Demand General Mills get glyphosate out of its supply chain — and out of our cereal bowls.
