Donald Trump signed an executive order on Monday to create the “American Technology Council” and has invited executives from the biggest, most powerful tech companies to join. Similar to his current business advisory council, this would bring more CEOs into Trump’s pocket.
This can’t stand. We need Big Tech to know that we’re paying attention. Serving on this tech council would be a symbolic approval of all of Trump’s dangerous policies and executive orders like the ‘Muslim ban’ and the recent breaking of the Paris agreement.
Tech executives from corporations like Apple, Amazon, Google, Facebook, have been invited but haven’t formally accepted the invitation. We need to act fast to make sure they stand up against this Administration.
Tell Silicon Valley Executives Trump’s Tech Council is a No Go
Trump’s executive order is calling for a meeting with Silicon Valley executives in late June so we need to act fast. Silicon Valley has enormous amounts of personally identifiable information that the Trump Administration would be eager to use to carry out this draconian agenda. We can not let that happen.
Trump has already put our communities, freedoms, families, and democracy in grave danger -- it’s time for tech corporations to pick a side.
Public pressure really works when it comes to these CEOs. Recently, Tesla’s Elon Musk and Disney’s Bob Iger stepped down from the administration’s business advisory council in protest of Trump pulling the US from the climate agreement. Let’s make sure Silicon Valley execs follow suit and decline this invitation and show Trump once and for all where they stand.
