Immigrants in the US, awaiting trial, are being detained and forced to work for $1 a day, or nothing at all, at GEO Group prisons.
These people, often in some of the most vulnerable situations, are threatened with solitary confinement if they do not work cleaning the prisons that keep them from family and friends.
This violates the federal Trafficking Victims Protection Act, which prohibits modern-day slavery, according to a lawsuit on behalf of nine immigrants.
Tell GEO Group to stop using slave labour in immigration prisons.
GEO Group is one of the largest private prison companies in the world, with hundreds of prisons across the United States. It is well-known that GEO Group is willing to treat prisoners awfully in order to make money.
With effort from concerned citizens like you, we can add many voices to the push against this horrific violation of human rights and pressure GEO Group to stop its slave labour practices.
Please join me in signing today to stop forced labour in immigration prisons.
