Roger Ailes, the disgraced former CEO of Fox News, is reportedly receiving a $40 million payout even though he was forced to step down because of 40 years’ worth of sexual harassment allegations.
Multiple women say they have tapes of Ailes's offensive and unwelcome advances. Others allege that Ailes was regularly threatening and obsessive with all his staff—to the point of hiring private investigators to dig up dirt on enemies and employees he didn’t like.
FoxNews, Roger Ailes doesn’t get a golden parachute for sexually harassing female employees for four decades. That money belongs to the women who saw their careers sabotaged because of Ailes’s abuse.
Fox: Don’t you dare give a serial abuser $40 million. Give that money to the survivors.
Only a few women have come forward so far, but enough to make Fox News worried. We know from similar circumstances that it’s extremely likely there are far more women who have not come forward. Fox could be on the hook for $10 million to settle the lawsuit. It may make Ailes pay for a portion of the settlement from his eight-figure payday, but that’s not even close to good enough.
We know how to deal with corporations that have a history of systemic sexual abuse. When the pilot of a major Canadian airline assaulted a stewardess while she was at work—and the airline tried to cover it up—nearly 30,000 SumOfUs members raised our voices and we turned it into a national issue. Fox News is on the run from this disgraceful scandal and the deplorable behaviour of its former CEO. We can make sure the survivors of Roger Ailes’s abuse get real justice.
Tell Fox News that serial abusers don’t get paydays. Give Roger Ailes’s bonus to those who truly deserve it.
