Google, Facebook and Apple are saying one thing but doing another when it comes to Trump’s Muslim Ban 2.0. And we’re not going to let them get away with it.
When Trump’s first Muslim ban came out, more than 100 Silicon Valley companies—including the big three—added their name and their clout to a lawsuit that went a long way toward bringing down the original ban.
But for some reason, this time, Google, Facebook and Apple have opted out of standing up to hate.
This is nothing short of corporate cowardice. These tech giants rely on thousands of migrant workers to help them reap enormous profits, but now they won’t stand up for their workers when they need them the most.
Tell Facebook, Google and Apple to put their money where their mouth is and join the legal fight against Trump’s Muslim Ban 2.0.
The Trump administration has taken every opportunity to show the world how much it hates immigrants, Muslims and refugees. After the first Muslim ban was struck down as unconstitutional, Trump tried again almost immediately with a nearly identical order. It has again been halted as unlawful, but only temporarily.
Trump has made it clear he will keep trying until his hateful, divisive order gets passed. If Silicon Valley has already made peace with that, we’re in deep trouble.
Luckily, we know we can convince them to do the right thing. These corporate tech brands are highly susceptible to public backlash. Many of their own employees find Trump’s policies repulsive and are pushing their CEOs to stick to their principles. Because of sustained public pressure, over 1,400 businesses have already pulled their advertising from Brietbart, or “Trump News,” the alt-right hate site that helped elect Donald Trump in the first place.
Make sure Facebook, Google and Apple know you can’t turn a blind eye to hate. Publicly condemn Muslim Ban 2.0 now.
