The vast majority of SeaWorld’s dolphins are born in tiny tanks, their parents drugged and forced to breed. Many have joint and muscle injuries from trainers standing on their noses during live shows. These dolphins have never known a life where they don’t have to literally jump through hoops for food.
TripAdvisor, the world’s largest travel platform, just announced that it will no longer sell tickets to attractions like SeaWorld that import, capture, or breed whales and dolphins for profit.
Now it’s up to us to convince Expedia, which sells countless discounted tickets to SeaWorld, to ditch the dolphin exploiters as well.
With TripAdvisor’s announcement, travel sites and ticket companies will be feeling the pressure to follow suit, but it is unlikely that these corporate giants will take action unless we turn up the heat.
Tell Expedia to stop supporting companies that harm and exploit dolphins for profit.
After the 2013 documentary “Blackfish” exposed the dark truth about orcas kept in captivity, SeaWorld faced a huge backlash from people horrified by the mistreatment the animals suffer on a daily basis.
Thanks to this public outcry resulting in a decline in ticket sales, SeaWorld announced that it would stop breeding orcas in captivity.
Other aquariums and aquatic attractions have listened to reason and moved away from live shows, but SeaWorld has chosen to continue profiting off of animal suffering. It still forces its 140 dolphins and 20 orcas to perform while hurt, stressed, and often times hungry. And the inhumane dolphin breeding program is still in operation.
We need to hit SeaWorld where it hurts. Falling revenue forced the company to stop breeding orcas in the past. If Expedia stops selling tickets to SeaWorld, then ticket sales are sure to drop once again. This is how we can force SeaWorld to stop putting dolphins through a living nightmare.
Join us in demanding that Expedia stop enabling dolphin suffering, and instead be part of the movement to save them.
1.6 million people signed the SumOfUs petition telling SeaWorld to stop breeding orcas. It was this unprecedented public outcry from people like you that forced SeaWorld to end its Orca Captivity program. And that’s why we’re calling on you once again to speak out on behalf of the dolphins still suffering because of SeaWorld’s greed.
